| Babe Ruth League has been a presence in youth baseball
for over 50 years. The "Bambino" division was renamed "Cal Ripken League" in the
late1990's. Babe Ruth League is a national organization that local athletic
associations choose to affiliate with for league organizational and charter
purposes, insurance consolidation and other various administrative
advantages. Babe Ruth offers spring baseball league play for 13-14 year
olds, 15-16 year olds and a 17-19 age division. the spring season starts in
early May following the school teams season end. That allows the middle
school and high school players an opportunity for more baseball. The spring
season lasts until the end of June. After spring season play summer all star
are selected with area,
state, regional and national championships. Summer play can go well into August
if your team advances into regional or national competition. The local
leagues also offer a fall program. The fall season runs from early September
through the end of October.
2005 Babe Ruth League has 886,500 players on some 45,200 teams in more than
7,315 leagues. A bit larger than the 10 team start 54 years ago in New Jersey.
None of this would happen for our youth baseball players if it were not for the
millions of volunteers throughout the many leagues.
Presently you can find at least one Babe Ruth League (website)
graduate on 30 different MLB teams and many many more in the minors.

Olde Providence, Park Sharon,
SouthEast, Hickory
Grove and Stewards of the Game.
Union County has a strong Babe Ruth
program. Associations include: North Union, South Union, Piedmont, Indian Trail and Union
Rec. Our neighbors in surrounding counties also have very good Babe Ruth
Programs. Teams from Henderson County, Buncombe County, Yadkin County, Surrey
County, Anson County, Stanley County and others always provide good competition.
